This sweet puppy drags her blanket to share with a cold stray. Her picture went viral because she has not forgotten her roots and wanted to share with her homeless friend in a time of need.
Being part of a litter that rescuers pulled from the streets, Lana was quickly adopted by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé. She was provided with love, affection, and a warm place to live. Her new family takes really good care of her and she has all that she needs to be happy.
On one chilly evening, Lana was outside in her family’s yard. Suelen brought a thicker blanket outside to make sure that Lana will be comfortable throughout the night.
A stray dog who always walked the streets near by approached the fence of Lana’s yard. Lana then dragged her thick blanket to the fence. Her friend was able to pull the blanket through the railings so that he could be warm too.
When Suelen’s fiancé left for work the next morning, he found both dogs cuddled up on each side of the blanket. He just had to take a picture!
“I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend,'” Suelen tells The Dodo. “My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!”
Following after Lana’s caring example, Suelen now gives food and water to the stray dog every day. Her hopes are that a family will soon adopt the dog and welcome him into a loving family. Until he finds a home, Suelen and Lana will continue to look after him.
“She is the nicest little dog I’ve ever met,” Suelen says. “We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone’s life. She reminded me of this.”
We can learn a huge lesson of compassion from this eight-month-old puppy!
