Joanna Gaines Refused To Upgrade Her Engagement Ring
When Joanna Gaines and her husband Chip Gaines married 13 years ago, they were struggling business owners on a tight budget. Now the two are household names thanks to the success of their wildly popular HGTV home improvement TV Show, ‘Fixer Upper.’
The folksy couple is known for being very down-to-earth. So it should be no surprise that when presented with the opportunity to ‘upgrade’ her engagement ring Chip bought her years ago, Joana politely refused.
Chip invited the same jeweler who designed Joanna’s ring to surprise her with a tray of diamonds to choose from. “Chip wants you to upgrade” the jeweler said. “My engagement ring?” Joanna replied.
Joanna ultimately declined saying, “That’s supposed to be every girl’s dream, right? But I looked him in the eye, and I said, “I’m sorry, but no. This is the original diamond I picked, and it’s perfect just the way it is.”
She went on to explain that while it may not have been a ‘perfect’ diamond, it was perfect for her, and that the ring was part of their shared story.
