Carter Louise Settle was born to Will and Kelen Settle on Sunday, June 25. She is the first female in the Settle family after 137 years of boys! As the first baby girl in a while, this 6-pound, 14-ounce baby is such a blessing.
Will and Kelen Settle found out that Carter was a girl when they hosted a gender reveal party. The couple held the celebration at a family member’s house last Christmas. What a perfect time to share the good news!
Everyone thought the announcement would be another boy. When the purple and pink balloons floated out of the box, the family celebrated. They started to freak out in excitement!
“I was absolutely shocked. We had the whole family there. My mother just went nuts. My mom always wanted a daughter. She was absolutely ecstatic,” Will says to ABC News.
At first he family did not realize the significance of Carter’s birth. They didn’t learn she is the first girl to be born in the Settle family in over 4 generations of men until Will’s father looked into their family tree.
“It was an absolute ‘wow’ moment,” Kelen says. “I think it’s going to be cool for her. It’s a little fun fact.”
First Baby Girl In Decades
Carter was welcomed into the world by a bright pink billboard along a local highway. The billboard was a surprise gift to Will and Kelen from Will’s co-workers. Naturally, it attracted a lot of press. Can’t miss that sign!
Carter and her parents were on the news within the first two weeks of Carter being born. Their story made headlines nationally. It even aired on The Independence Website based in London!
This record-holder is stealing hearts and headlines. Congratulations to the Settle family!
