Burn Survivor Shares Pregnancy Photos That Go Viral
Andrea Grant was just a little 8-year-old girl when a gas leak caused her home to explode. Badly injured, doctors told the burn survivor that the scars covering her belly would make a pregnancy very risky. The normally elastic skin that stretches as the baby grows was just so damaged that doctors feared it would never be healthy enough to stretch and give a growing fetus the room it would need to make it full-term.
Doctors said Andrea could possibly carry a baby four months. But now she is at 37 weeks and counting!
To celebrate this miracle, Andrea hired a photographer who captured these beautiful photographs during the maternity shoot. In just 24 hours, the images understandably went viral as Andrea’s story inspired the internet!
And Andrea truly is an inspiration. She’s founded a group called Beyond Scars to help advocate for other burn victims, focusing on self-esteem, confidence and perseverance. As Andrea herself says, she’s no longer a burn victim — but a burn survivor!
