Baby Bun Goes Home
Dana and Arkell married 17 years ago, and knew they wanted to have children. But after they delivered a stillborn baby at six months and suffered four miscarriages, they gave up trying to conceive. The couple adopted a son, Keelyn, who they call their first miracle, and they thought their family was complete. But God had other plans for the couple, and that’s when He sent them a second son, Baby Bun.
Recently, Dana had begun walking with a group of friends for exercise. When she noticed that they were all losing weight, but she was not, Dana went to the doctor’s to see what was wrong. That’s when she learned she was 5 months pregnant!
“I was ecstatic,” she said. “We hadn’t planned anything, we weren’t trying.”
Wanting to surprise her husband with the news, Dana put a package of ‘buns’ in the oven next to a sonogram picture. Then she started recording on her cell phone as she asked her husband to open the oven door. His emotional reaction was priceless, and after Dana uploaded the video to YouTube, it quickly went viral. That’s when their little miracle blessing Dana was carrying became known as ‘baby bun.’

But just mere days after their joyous news went viral, the godly couple would be tested once again. Dana went into premature labor, 17 weeks early with their first biological son, Kaleb. He weighed only 13 ounces when he was born. Doctors knew that ‘baby bun’ Kaleb’s situation was very dire, but his parents had faith, and it was very strong.
“I’m very humbled to the fact that so many people are praying for us and the prayers are actually working,” said Arkell. “We can actually feel them. They’re amazing. God is good. He’s a miracle. Kaleb is a miracle.”

And now, after a year-long stay in the hospital NICU, baby bun Kaleb is finally headed home!
“We all know practice makes perfect and in preparation of Kaleb’s release we’ve practiced using the home ventilator, sitting in a car seat, mom and dad handling all of his care and medical needs for 12 hours at a time. We have an overwhelming feeling of excitement. But this is what we’ve prayed for so we believe God will give us an unending supply of strength to handle any situation,” his excited parents posted on Kaleb’s Facebook page.

“Kaleb is riding down the highway and now he is asleep on his first car/limo ride home,” his parents shared.
“We give God all the praise!”
