This adorable couple is proving that you are never too old to find true love. These senior citizens knew they were meant to be together. Cleveland “Murphy” Wilson and Lucinda Myers are madly in love.
After encouragement by their family, they had an engagement photo session. It wasn’t long after the couple’s photos were posted online that they quickly went viral. Murphy and Lucinda’s story proves that true love can be found at any stage of life. The joy and affection shared in their photos cannot be denied. They certainly make us smile!
Murphy spent 41 years with his best friend, Antoinette. Having met early in life, they shared many years of happiness. Everyone that knew them agreed they had a special spark together. When Antoinette passed away in 2013, Murphy struggled to work through the void in his life. He kept busy with projects and hoped that over time his sadness would heal.
“After Antoinette died, I had all kinds of things going on; I was teaching high school classes, directing choirs for various churches, and hanging out with my 4 grandchildren,’ he explained, ‘but there was still an empty space and it couldn’t be filled with more work.”
Murphy knew that he still had love to give. But he also believed that it would take an act of God to bring the right person into his life. Having experienced ‘true love’ once, he knew that if God had someone for him it would be just as perfect. But Murphy wasn’t read to rush into a relationship.
But Murphy also found that it was hard to attend the church he and his wife had shared for so many years. After taking a few months off, he finally returned, this time to the balcony instead of his regular seat on the first floor. For three years, Lucinda Myers sat in front of him in the balcony before they admitted to having caught each other’s eye.
Finding True Love
“He has a beautiful smile. I love him so much,” Lucinda said of Wilson. “He has such a calm demeanor about him. The Lord just put us together for a reason. We’re just so happy. I couldn’t have asked for a better mate.”
When Murphy held a cookout at his house, Lucinda attended with a friend. She and Murphy finally had a chance to talk. And talk they did, for hours and hours. Their time together felt so comfortable.
“We entertain each other,’ said Lucinda. ‘We laugh and talk for hours…We sit down and start talking then look up and realize its been four or five hours and it’s just the two of us. We just enjoy each other.”
Both Lucinda and Murphy share that they make each other’s life brighter. But it’s obvious that these two are charming on their own. It’s their joy in experiencing life that overflows when they are together.
“Make sure that you continue to do things that make you happy. I didn’t need a human being to make me happy…If God hadn’t sent Murphy, I’d still be happy doing what I loved to do, but now that he’s in my life, he is the icing on the cake!’ “
Murphy and Lucinda officially tied the knot on July 29. Surrounded by family and friends, they said “I do” and are excited to start the next chapter of their life together!
“I’ve got someone different here. Another chapter, turn the page,” Murphy told WHNT News. “She’s a piece of work too. I’ve got to tell you and I love her. She’s something else.”
