Price Is Right Super Fan Has Amazing Reaction To Setting Plinko Record
This super fan finally got his chance to star on The Price Is Right. He walked away with $31,500 in winnings, a new record for “Plinko”, and internet fame!
Ryan Belz is a “The Price Is Right” super fan. He has faithfully watched the show for years, even going so far as to schedule his college classes around the show times!
Ryan’s true aspiration is to be a television weatherman. As a Penn State 2016 graduate, Ryan holds a degree in broadcast journalism and a certificate in weather forecasting. He says that his love of meteorology started as a young boy when his teachers inspired him by studying passing storms. Since graduation, he has held several temporary positions as weatherman but nothing long-term has opened just yet. Instead of giving up on his dreams, he has used his current “ends meet” employment at Target to help him learn the prices of common goods in hopes of using that knowledge on The Price Is Right.
“The experience was an absolute dream come true,” Belz said in an interview. “I am one of (if not the biggest) fan of The Price is Right!”
Belz was on spring break in southern California with his friend Zach and told him:
“there’s only one thing I request we do… GO TO A TAPING OF THE PRICE IS RIGHT!”
Dreams Come True
But they didn’t just attend a taping of the show, Ryan was selected to participate! In an historic $1 bid on a digital camera (assuming the other contestants price guesses were too high), Ryan won the first round. After a victory lap around the studio audience, he quickly advanced to the next game, Plinko, where he collected all 5 of the Plinko play coins.
For those who are not familiar with the game, contestants earn special coins by guessing prices of every day items. Those coins are then taken up to the top of the game board where the contestant drops them through various shoots on the board trying to have the coins land on the high money slots ($10,000, $5,000, $1,000).
Ryan’s hope is that his time on this show will perhaps be a starting point for a more permanent television career. Since the airing of the show, he has had multiple interviews.
“My phone has been blowing up,” he told the Washington Post. “I’ve been on radio and television across the U.S. and Canada. Everybody and their brother is reaching out to me.”
This guy definitely has some serious charisma!
