Toddler Narrowly Avoids Being Crushed by Car That Rushed Toward Him
After waiting patiently for the correct time to cross with their mother and sibling, this toddler was almost crushed by a reversing car.
A mother was trying to cross the road safely with her children, one in a stroller and the other a small child. After waiting patiently for a safe time to cross the very busy street, the family begins their journey across the street. But what seemed like a successful crossing quickly turned into a near catastrophe.
The tiny child was not holding the mother’s hand while crossing and had moved ahead of the group. That’s when disaster nearly struck. The last vehicle to pass them had stopped for a delivery truck. The car began to reverse to get out of the truck’s way. Unknowingly, the toddler had begun crossing directly behind the car and could not be seen.
The mother jumped into action, slapping the side of the vehicle which caused it to stop just in time. After a quick word of correction, the mother and her children continue safely across the street.
Since being posted, the video has sparked expected debate over who truly is at fault for the near miss. Comments on the video showed a great divide. Some blame the driver for being unaware.
Tugwell Gibson wrote: “One easy way for the car driver to avoid reversing into someone. Before moving backwards twist in your seat and have a good look out the rear window. A quick glance in your rear view mirror is not enough.”
Where others feel the mother was not in control of her child.
John Meugens said: “The pedestrian should have noticed the car and traffic and not allowed her child to run across the road like that. Who would have been at fault then?”
